Elden Ring Runes: 21 Efficient Methods to Farm Solo

Farming runes in Elden Ring is an essential part of leveling up, upgrading gear, and preparing for the many brutal challenges scattered across the Lands Between. While co-op and PvP are fun ways to earn rewards, many players prefer to farm solo—whether for convenience, efficiency, or simply the satisfaction of doing things their way. Below are 21 solo-friendly rune farming methods that cover a wide range of levels and map areas.

1. Mohgwyn Palace – Albinauric Farm

Perhaps the most infamous solo rune farm in the game, the Albinaurics near the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance grace site can net hundreds of thousands of runes per run with the right gear. Use an AoE weapon art or spell for quick sweeps.

2. Sleeping Dragon (Fort Faroth)

In Caelid, a massive sleeping dragon can be killed for a massive one-time reward. This farm is best done early with a bleed weapon like Reduvia. Though the dragon doesn't fight back, its HP pool is huge, so patience is key.

3. Lenne's Rise Boulder Trap

Triggering the magical boulder trap on the road near Lenne’s Rise in northeast Caelid can kill enemies and award runes without lifting a weapon. Just kite the boulder to roll into mobs, or let it fly off the cliff for free gains.

4. War-Dead Catacombs

This catacomb near Radahn's arena is filled with spirits that fight each other. Let them battle while you collect the rewards. Pick off survivors for bonus runes.

5. Windmill Village (Altus Plateau)

After defeating the Godskin Apostle, the joyful dancers respawn and drop a decent amount of runes. Their behavior is predictable, making this an easy farm with minimal risk.

6. Liurnia – Raya Lucaria Soldiers

Just outside the Academy, soldiers patrol and fight other enemies. Let them clash and finish off whoever remains. It’s a lower-level area but great for early rune farming.

7. Stormveil Castle – Castle Guards

The guards here are straightforward and drop decent runes for early-game players. With stealth and backstabs, you can clear them quickly without much resistance.

8. Bestial Sanctum – Farum Azula Beastmen

North of Caelid lies the Bestial Sanctum, where powerful but farmable beastmen patrol. They hit hard but drop a high amount of runes, especially when tackled with ranged attacks or summons.

9. Leyndell Knights – Outer Wall

High-tier enemies like Leyndell Knights drop a solid chunk of runes. Once you’re comfortable fighting them, they can be a great solo rune source—just be ready to dodge smartly.

10. Lake of Rot – Rot Servants

The Lake of Rot is dangerous, but the enemies within give high rune payouts. Equip rot-resistant gear and use ranged weapons or spells to stay safe while farming.

11. Ordina Liturgical Town (Consecrated Snowfield)

Stealth around this ghost town, taking out enemies for moderate rune rewards. It’s a good mid-to-late game solo option if you prefer sneaky gameplay.

12. Yelough Anix Ruins – Frenzied Flame Enemies

These late-game enemies are chaotic and aggressive but drop lots of runes. Use the terrain to control engagements and isolate foes.

13. Trolls Near Gatefront Ruins

If you're just starting, the trolls here are great practice and reward reasonable runes. Attack their legs to stagger them easily.

14. Altus Plateau – Volcano Manor Assassination Targets

Doing these missions solo gives both quest rewards and rune payouts. It's also a great way to explore side content while building your rune reserves.

15. Sellia Crystal Tunnel

Tough crystal enemies inside this dungeon drop more runes than you’d expect. Use blunt weapons to break their armor faster.

16. Sealed Tunnel – Leyndell Tree Root Area

Hidden enemies and chests make this tunnel a surprisingly good rune farm. Watch for ambushes and backstab opportunities.

17. Giants in Mountaintops of the Giants

Soloing these massive enemies takes time, but the payout is solid. Focus on their ankles to stagger them quickly.

18. Haligtree Knights (Elphael Inner Wall)

Late-game enemies like Haligtree Knights are challenging but drop large rune amounts. Bring your best gear and be prepared to dodge well.

19. Rune Bear Ambushes – Mistwood

Risky but rewarding, rune bears offer big gains for those who can defeat them solo. Make use of terrain to avoid getting swiped.

20. Tibia Mariners

These world bosses reappear in multiple zones and drop Deathroot and runes. They're manageable solo with mobility and ranged damage.

21. Remembrance Duplication (Walking Mausoleums)

Once you have boss Remembrances, you can duplicate them at Walking Mausoleums and consume them for large rune chunks. This is a safe and effective method, especially when you’re not looking to use the boss weapons.

Whether you're new to Elden Ring or a seasoned Tarnished, rune farming is a valuable skill. Gear like the Gold Scarab talisman and pickled fowl foot items can help maximize returns during your farming runs. If you're looking to experiment with more builds or try new weapons without spending hours grinding, some players opt to get cheap Elden Ring runes from the community or buy Elden Ring Items to speed up the process. Just be mindful to do so safely and responsibly.

Ultimately, there's no single best method for every player. Try a few of these solo farming strategies and see which fits your build and playstyle best. The Lands Between are full of opportunity—if you know where to look.
